Wireless LAN vendor, Meru Networks, has acquired secure guest and device access management solution provider, Identity Networks.
The monetary value of the purchase has not been disclosed.
The acquisition enables, Meru customers to provide a secure, policy based, wired and wireless network access for users who bring their own devices (BYOD) into the enterprise.
Wavelink currently distributes Meru in the Australian market. The distributor's managing director, Ilan Rubin, said the acquisition provides a great prospect for Wavelink and its channel.
"This acquisition validates the strategy Wavelink has adopted of providing high level focus on a small number of complementary wireless and network access and security solutions,” he said.
He also stated it presents a value added sales opportunity for Wavelink resellers and offers them with an advantage of presenting a complete solution, integrating wireless LAN with guest access management.
The Identity Networks product has been used across the Meru installed base as an integrated, third-party security solution, to work in a variety of environments.
It provides basic provisioning competencies and automatic notification services that provide consumers with their access credentials by email or SMS. It also contains reporting, auditing and customisation abilities.
The Identity Networks system aims to decrease the IT burden of guest provisioning and management as consumers can be given access by non-IT personnel.
