The joint solution enables organisations to evolve to a secure Cloud computing model at their own pace, without needing to rip and replace existing infrastructure.
It aims to accelerate customers’ transition from a virtualised environment to a secure private, hybrid or public Cloud infrastructure.
VMware vice-president of global strategic alliances, Gary Green, said, “With this new solution, we’re taking another step forward in helping joint customers virtualise more of the IT environment – including their most demanding business-critical applications – to continue building the foundation for cloud computing.”
VMware cloud infrastructure and management on NetApp simplifies the transition to a standardised, automated service-delivery model that scales with the business.
The solution creates a secure Cloud infrastructure by combining NetApp’s Unified Storage Architecture and set of storage and data management capabilities built on Data ONTAP with VMware’s recently enhanced cloud infrastructure suite.
This combination allows organisations to transition to the cloud at their own pace, without having to rip and replace their existing infrastructure.
Its core features include: Integrated data protection with VMware vCloud Director, policy-based provisioning of storage and infrastructure resources and secure isolation and control of multiple tenants.
NetApp vice-president of products and solutions marketing, Chris Cummings, said, “As enterprises look for ways to accelerate their businesses, they recognise that the decisions they make now affect not only how they compete today but also how prepared they are for the future.”
The solution can be purchased directly from NetApp and VMware, or through the companies' worldwide network of value-added authorised resellers, distributors and systems integrators.
