Enterasys has announced its new X-Pedition Security Router 1800 series for enterprise branch offices. The XSR-1800 series combines a suite of IP router features and WAN interfaces with virtual private networking (VPN) and policy-managed distributed firewalling. The routers can be easily deployed across remote locations, according to the vendor, and can be upgraded remotely. Future versions of the product will be integrated with Enterasys's Dragon Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) technologies and will also include support for convergence technologies to deliver voice, video and data applications to branch offices. The X-Pedition Security Router 1805 (XSR-1805) is the first product in the XSR-1800 series and will be available in May. The series is fully managed by Enterasys's NetSight Atlas and is also supported by the company's EnteraCare services portfolio.
