Benq has planted its foot on the accelerator of CD-RW drives, releasing its Benq 4012P (40x) drive.
Writing at 40x, rewriting at 12x and reading at 48x, the Benq 4012P drive is compatible with Windows 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000 and XP, and has a 2MB buffer for quick downloading and formatting. It also features an E-IDE/ATAPI Interface, play/skip functions on the panel, emergency eject and an anti-vibration system. Benq believes the drives will prove popular in both the home and office markets for everything from writing and rewriting large graphic and image files and data backup to compiling or playing music CDs and audio. The drive is available now from Alepine Peripherals, BBF, CompuWorld, dma, Elite, Leader Computers, QTD, Servex and Tech-excel. It will carry a $449 price tag.
