Law enforcement uses Fluke Networks’ AirCheck Wi-Fi Tester to help combat child pornography

Network installation, monitoring and analysis solution provider, Fluke Networks', AirCheck Wi-Fi Tester is being used by law enforcement agencies to help locate people suspected of downloading child pornography.

The AirCheck tester is a handheld Wi-Fi tool with a simplified one button interface for technical and non-technical users.

It enables law enforcement agencies to drive by a suspected location and recognise all the wireless networks in use, define if a wireless network inside a suspect’s location is secured or unsecured, enter the suspect’s location, if they know illegal Internet content is being downloaded and track the suspected client location if a wireless network is determined to be unsecured.

Fluke Networks president, Arif Kareem, said, “This is a terrible crime against society, and the fact that our technology can be part of the solution, is something we’re very proud of as a company.”

The City of Martinez Police Department, located in California, is one of the agencies that picked the AirCheck tester to aid in tracking down suspected criminals.

The department head of the electronic crimes unit, Sergeant Dave Mathers, said, “Combating the growing threat of child pornography on the Internet is a nationwide priority.”

The AirCheck Wi-Fi tester is one in a range of Fluke Networks products used worldwide to combat cybercrime.

UXC Connect announces new strategic partner, CommVault

ICT infrastructure solutions and services company, UXC Connect, has partnered with data management software provider, CommVault.

The agreement enables UXC Connect to offer CommVault’s Simpana software and support services to enterprise customers and resellers across A/NZ.

UXC Connect intends to focus on creating a strong partner network in the Australian ICT infrastructure landscape through its customer solutions.

By selecting CommVault’s data and information solution, Simpana, as part of an integrated solution, UXC Connect aims to improve its offerings across content organisation, backup, disaster recovery, compliance and storage resource management.

UXC Connect CEO, Ian Poole, said the strategic partnership with CommVault offers the company an improved emphasis on providing modern data management solutions to its customers.

“Working with CommVault will go a long way to strengthen our mission-critical data offerings, designed to meet the changing needs of the organisations we work closely with,” he said.

The company has also been accredited as a Cisco Authorised Technology Provider (ATP) – Cisco TelePresence Video Advanced Partner.

The ATP TelePresence Video Advanced program is invitation-only, with a specific list of requirements for qualification. It aims to provide a more productive face-to-face collaboration system, with its partners.

The accreditation reflects the operability of the newly merged UXC Connect sales and support teams, who are required to sell, design, install and support Cisco’s TelePresence technology and solutions.

Axis enhances its warranty services for customers

Network video solution provider, Axis Communications, has appointed Westview Electronics as its return manufacturing authority partner in Australia.

The new service will enhance Axis’ In Warranty (RMA) developments by lowering the response and resolutions turnaround time significantly and providing the company with more visibility into all its customers’ cases.

It is a change from previous ways that had RMA cases handled through the sales channel – requiring the end-user to liaise with both the reseller and distributor when returning the product to Axis.

The end-user can now raise a case directly with Axis and the repair/replacement will be handled by the local Axis approved RMA partner.

Axis Communications country manager for A/NZ, Wai King Wong, said, "This appointment will allow us to streamline the warranty claiming process for our customers and resolve any issues in a fraction of the time – which all contributes to our commitment on delivering optimum customer service for the entire life of the product.”

The new service is available to all end-users, resellers and distributors in the South-Pacific region.
