Everyone’s favourite voice chat software for the iPhone has now been released for the iPad.
Anyone who has been using the iPhone edition of the software on their iPad will be happy to hear that the iPad version has a new interface that makes use of the tablet’s larger screen size.
The same features from the iPhone version have been carried over to the iPad edition, with texting and voice calls to other Skype-enabled devices and regular land lines/mobiles phones made possible with the app.
Users who have an iPad 2 will be able to make use of the device’s inbuilt camera to have video calls, an impressive feature that was first made available on the iPhone 4 and is now even more impressive on the iPad’s larger screen.
A long time coming, it’s nice to see that Microsoft’s acquisition of Skype has already resulted in immediate benefits for users in the form of the iPad version of the software.
Pros: A great voice chat app now formatted and available for the iPad.
Cons: You might feel a bit awkward making voice calls from your not-so-portable iPad.
Verdict: If you had the iPhone version of Skype installed on your iPad, it’s time to replace it with the superior iPad version.
