IT and business services provider, Logica Australia, has appointed Darren Covington as its new Director of Public Sector, Transport, Logistics and Asset Intensive Industries.
He will also focus on supporting Logica’s expansion in the resources and defence sectors.
CEO Asia-Pacific and Australia, Colin Holgate, said, Public sector was a high demand area for Logica, as demonstrated by the recent growth of its Canberra office.
Covington would use experience in, and enthusiasm for, complex IT change programs to lead its client teams delivering in the complex health, security and policing services.
“In addition, our Transport and Logistics sector has been delivering core projects to road infrastructure and traffic managers, rail infrastructure and operators and to the post and logistics sectors for many years, Holgate said..

Covington said, “Logica has a great reputation for outstanding project management and project governance capabilities. It has a deep focus on our key industry verticals of transport, energy and government. My goal is to build on this strength and expand into adjacent markets with similar needs, particularly resources and defence.”
Prior to joining Logica, Covington was vice-president of HP’s Enterprise Software Group for Asia-Pacific and Japan sales and services organisation within the HP Imaging and Printing Group. He has also worked for IDS Scheer Pacific Region, Silicon Graphics and IBM.
