Samsung Electronics has reported sales of its Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone have surpassed the five million global sales milestone.
The five million mark was reached in only 85 days – 40 days faster than the original Galaxy S took to attain the same sales mark.
Samsung predicts sales will further soar with the recent launch of the smartphone in China.
Samsung mobile communications president and head, JK Shin, said, “Since being launched into the retail market in late April, the Galaxy S II has seen tremendous growth. This reflects the strong support from carrier partners globally, who have chosen it as their flagship device.”
The Samsung Galaxy S II is a 8.49mm thin, lightweight dual-core smartphone that combines a Super AMOLED Plus viewing experience with an Android operating system.
The next generation smartphones include exclusive access to Samsung’s four new content and entertainment hubs, seamlessly integrated to offer instant access to music, games, e-reading and social networking services.
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S II in Australia in May.
