NBN Co will hold a launch event to mark the first National Broadband Network (NBN) connection to households in Kiama, NSW.
Kiama is among the five first mainland NBN trial sites announced in March.
Armidale, NSW was the first to go live in April with an official launch ceremony in May.
The rest of the trial sites include Willunga in SA, with customers already using the service, Townsville in Queensland and Brunswick in Victoria.
Communications Minister will be attending Kiama’s NBN launch ceremony at Kiama Showground along with a number of NBN Co and industry representatives.
A locally developed health application will be demonstrated as part of the ceremony.
The Coalition is still opposed to the NBN in its current form. At a recent Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) lunch in Sydney, Shadow Communications Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, said the Coalition would be able to deliver high-speed broadband to Australians faster and cheaper than Labor’s NBN.
