Sony Ericsson Xperia neo arrives July 26, exclusive to Telstra

New phone can leverage the telco’s new HD Voice feature which improves quality of voice calls between another compatible phone

Sony Ericsson has set the launch date for the Xperia neo in Australia as July 26 and it will be exclusive to Telstra.

Running on Google Android 2.3, the smartphone is one of a handful of devices that supports Telstra’s HD Voice feature, which improves the clarity of phone calls between two HD Voice compatible phones on the telco’s NextG network.

With a 3.7-inch touchscreen, Xperia neo runs on the Mobile Bravia Engine allows for clear image display. It features an 8-megapixel camera with Exmor R for shooting pictures in low-light conditions. It is also able to shoot HD-quality videos.

Xperia neo weighs 0.126kg with up to 320MB internal memory. It can take a microSD memory card up to 32GB. The phone has a 1GHz processor, talk time of up to six hours and 55 minutes with a standby time of up to 430 hours.

It is only available in one colour – Blue Gradient.

Xperia neo will be $0 upfront on a 24-month Telstra $59 Freedom Connect plan which includes $550 national calls, MMS with unlimited standard text messaging as well as 1.5GB of data.
