EMC’s VNXe chosen for Cloud Plus' storage

Cloud Plus will use EMC’s VNXe as the primary storage platform for its virtual hosting services

Private cloud solutions provider, Cloud Plus, will be using EMC’s unified storage technology, VNXe as the primary storage platform for its virtual hosting services.

It forms part of an extensive menu that partners can select from when creating solutions for clients.

According to Cloud Plus CEO, Jules Rumsey, it conducted a review of leading vendors prior to partnering with EMC and the company assessed that VNXe was a good fit for them in terms of features, functionality and cost.

“What we’re offering is a cloud computing platform that includes private networking, a managed firewall, Internet access, back-up and disaster recovery and email security,” Rumsey said.

The launch found significant interest from 15 to 20 new A/NZ channel partners intending to create a cloud strategy.

He said there was a current requirement for a storage platform that caters for immediate requirements, scales with growth and provides features that will enhance storage efficiency and allow services to evolve over time.

“We enable our clients and partners to leverage the substantial benefits available with cloud computing without having to make a significant investment in infrastructure, technology and staffing, whilst maintaining a high level of visibility and control,” he said.

Rumsey said there are some additional features that will be included into the VNXe platform to make it more scalable than its current form, but details will be provided at a further date.

EMC A/NZ marketing manager of storage platforms, Mark Oakey, said there were three key propositions to the partnership including enabling the broader IT partner community to develop and deliver cloud solutions without incurring significant capital overheads and a protracted ROI; Allowing them to retain full control and flexibility over delivery as well as enabling them to aid the ability to better service the existing customer base while capitalising on the greater addressable market opportunity.
