Commercial mathetics company, Biarri, has been awarded a contract by NBN Co, to supply network design optimisation software.
NBN Co is splashing $6.5 million on Biarri's service, which also comes with a potential contract extension of more than eight years.
NBN Co expects the software solution to be an asset in the development of the NBN, which can assist with determining optimal fibre area boundaries, the position of fibre hubs, and the layout and route of distribution and local fibre.
“Biarri has already demonstrated the engine’s capability and benefits on projects for NBN Co,” NBN Co CTO, Gary McLaren, said.
“Based on modelling that NBN Co and Biarri have undertaken in the First Release Sites, it is possible that the optimisation algorithms could save substantial costs in both design and construction."
