iOS and Blackberry Tablet OS supported in latest Adobe update

Capability added for developers to build iPhone, iPad and BlackBerry PlayBook applications

Adobe’s (Nasdaq:ADBE) latest update to Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 and Flex 4.5 will enable developer support for iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad and Blackberry Tablet OS devices such as the BlackBerry PlayBook.

Flash Builder 4.5, a development suit that allows applications to work across multiple mobile device platforms, will now enable the simultaneous distribution of mobile applications over the Apple App Store and BlackBerry App World.

With support for Android devices and the Android Market already incorporated into Flash Builder 4.5 in April, this means that developers will now have access to a single, convenient platform when creating mobile apps for Android devices, BlackBerry PlayBook, iPhone and iPad.

“Companies can now effectively reach their customers no matter what type of device they have,” Adobe vice-president of developer tooling, Ed Rowe, said.

With more than 80 million Android devices, BlackBerry PlayBooks, iPads and iPhones used worldwide and constantly on the increase, business and developers keen to tap into this market will be able to do so through Flash Builder 4.5’s unified framework.

Flash Builder 4.5 and Flex 4.5 is currently available in Australia as a full package from $1107 and the upgrade from $81.12, with Flex support for additional platforms such as iOS and Blackberry Tablet OS to be released in July.
