McCabe to drive NICTA cloud computing business strategy

His experience to maximise commercial impact of cloud technologies at NICTA

ICT Research Centre of Excellence, National ICT Australia (NICTA), has appointed senior ICT industry expert, Dr Bruce McCabe, to drive its cloud computing business strategy.

Prior to this position, Dr McCabe served as director of innovation at KPMG.

Director of NICTA’s Broadband and Digital Economy business team, Dr Terry Percival, said Dr McCabe’s understanding of the future of business, in particular how information technology will transform industry, organisations and work, will maximise the commercial impact of the cloud technologies being developed at NICTA.

NICTA aims to expand technologies to not only capitalise on the prospects, but also undertake issues such as data security, resilience, and cost optimisation.

Dr McCabe said, “The cloud is now changing every aspect of how we think about software, but along with the enormous potential benefits come new challenges, especially for larger enterprises and government agencies.” NICTA also recently injected $1.4 million into its gigabit wireless technology.
