Boy sells kidney for iPad

But soon experiences buyer's regret

A 17-year-old student surnamed Zheng in Huaishan City, Anhui Province, sold one of his kidneys to buy Apple’s popular iPad 2, according to the Shanghai Daily.

After a broker contacted him on the Internet to say that he could help sell one of his kidneys for 20,000 yuan, Zheng went to Chenzhou City, Hunan Province on April 28 for the kidney removal surgery

Zheng was paid 22,000 yuan after his right kidney was taken out at the Chenzhou No. 198 Hospital.

“I wanted to buy an iPad 2 but could not afford it,” the boy said.

The boy’s parents knew nothing about the deal arranged by the broker, but when Zheng returned home and his mother found out it, she immediately reported it to the police.

However, the broker could not be located since his cell phone was always powered off

The hospital that performed the surgery, which was not qualified to perform an organ transplant, is claiming ignorance in the matter.

With the boy’s health getting worse, the case is still under investigation.
