Data#3 has slashed the IT operating expense of mining equipment manufacturer DSI Australia by implementing an ERP (enterprise resource planning) suite from Navision.
Data#3 was brought into the deal after Navision secured a contract to replace DSI's legacy financial and manufacturing software with Navision Attain 2.6, featuring manufacturing, financial, inventory management, planning and contact-management modules.
DSI manufactures roof-support equipment for mines. In September last year, the Newcastle-based company was acquired by German construction giant DYWIDAG Systems International, which uses Navision ERP software across its worldwide operations.
As well as customising the software specifically for DSI, Data#3 oversaw the $500,000 project to integrate the Navision software and install new hardware and networking infrastructure in just four months.
"IT running costs have been slashed by two-thirds while DSI now has a stable solution in place that can be modified cheaply and quickly," according to David Caldwell, DSI Australia's IS manager.
