IBM software and services provider, Certus Solutions, has acquired one of IBM’s largest software resellers, Focus Strategies and Solutions, for an undisclosed sum.
Focus is Australian-based and was founded eight years ago by Tom Reich. The company has grown to achieve annual revenues in excess of $13 million and has more than 50 staff spread across Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Canberra.
Certus CEO, Brian Allen, said the acquisition completes its IBM portfolio particularly with Focus’ complementary business analytics and information management capabilities.
The purchase will boost Certus’ growth projections for the upcoming fiscal year with income forecast to reach $65 million. It will also bring the company’s headcount to more than 160.
“Certus is on a strong growth track and we are looking at further expansion within Australia. The expertise that Focus brings to Certus will be an important part of this future growth. We also value and respect the management capabilities of Focus,” Allen said.
He assured there will be no redundancies and Focus managing director, Tom Reich, will keep the same role.
Allen didn’t rule out further acquisitions down the track.
“Certus will continue to make other acquisitions as opportunities arise to accelerate maturity of our value proposition faster than we can achieve through organic growth alone,” he said.
