AVG hires new general manager

Distribution arm of anti-virus vendor, AVG, finds a new general manager to drive growth in the A/NZ and South Pacific region.

Distribution arm of internet security vendor, AVG, has appointed Sam Hendry to a newly created role as its general manager covering A/NZ and South Pacific.

Hendry was general manager of Australian consumer technology support company, QK, prior to joining AVG. He started his career in local government management and will be helping the distributor implement a business plan to drive growth across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. He also previously worked for Melbourne IT and its started its spin-off Digital Brand Services.

“AVG A/NZ is at a very interesting juncture in its growth and it is exciting to be joining a company that is visionary in both the products it markets and business models it follows,” Hendry said in a statement. “The potential and growth opportunities for this business are extraordinary.”

Hendry will head up the operations division to allow A/NZ managing director, Peter Cameron, to focus on strategic decisions relating to products, the channel and customers.

AVG has doubled its staff levels to 50 in the past 18 months.
