Telstra names new China CEO

The telco is eager to grow its business in China through the appointment of Xiaowei Chen

Telstra International Group has knighted Xiaowei Chen as CEO of its operations in China.

Chen was appointed after an “extensive international search”. She is charged with growing the Telstra business in China. The role is based in Beijing.

Telstra International Group, headquartered in Hong Kong, runs Telstra’s assets outside of Australia and New Zealand.

Chen has more than 15 years experience in the media and IT industry. She was the CEO of Orange Sky Entertainment Group prior to her employment at Telstra.

“[Her] in-depth knowledge of China’s new media space and proven ability to adapt and deliver in the fast moving online sector provides the experience required for Telstra’s continued growth in China,” Telstra International Group managing director, Tarek Robbiati, said in a statement.

Chen will report to Robbiati.
