Acer has announced its showcase product for the coming year, a convertible Tablet PC running Microsoft's Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. The prototype design, which was displayed at the annual Comdex show in Las Vegas, Nevada, is that of a super-portable laptop that converts from the usual clamshell mode with keyboard into a tablet mode using a pen. It will also integrate speed technology, according to the vendor. The Acer TravelMate Tablet PC will run on a Mobile Intel Pentium III processor, M, and will feature a clear and compact 10-inch TFT screen. At this stage, Acer is considering the release of the Tablet PC next year and pricing is not yet available.
