Brisbane-based consumables specialist Dynamic Supplies has been inducted into Exabyte's distribution line-up after Richard Giddey, Exabyte's regional manager Australasia, had taken the broom to the tape media vendor's channel last year.
Giddey axed Daisytek and now defunct distributor Sealcorp last year, replacing them with ACA Pacific and now media specialist wholesaler Dynamic Supplies.
"We needed a distributor that could push high volume," Giddey said.
Dynamic Supplies had been selling Exabyte media for some time under an informal agreement before signing to become a national distributor this week. Dynamic Supplies has warehouses in Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia.
According to Alex Piccinini, Dynamic Supplies' managing director, the company has grown from humble beginnings as a second-tier wholesaler to a $120 million per annum distributor.
Piccinini is hoping to leverage the agreement with Exabyte and existing contracts with Hewlett-Packard and Imation to breach new markets.
"Traditionally our customers have been the large stationers and buying groups. This agreement makes the product more readily available to the whole channel," Piccinini told ARN.
Dynamic's value proposition, Piccinini said, is that the company holds large volumes of stock.
"When it comes to media sales, it often comes down to how much the wholesaler has in stock," Piccinini said. "If you have it in stock, inevitably the retailer will sell it."
Piccinini expects to expand Dynamic's Exabyte media sales to around $3 million to $5 million per year.
