Telstra has released a new heavy-duty mobile handset, the Tough 2.
The phone was designed with Australian tradesmen, construction and road workers in mind but is built for work and play, according to the telco.
“You can toss the Telstra Tough 2 into a toolbox or the cab of your ute and not worry about knocking the life out of it or scratching the screen,” Telstra director of mobility products, Warwick Bray, said in a statement.
“It’s also a great companion for people who love the outdoors and activities like hanging out at the beach, camping, fishing or mountain bike riding."
As well as a scratch resistant screen, it also has an IP54 rating for water and dust protection.
Extra features include a 3-megapixel camera, integrated MP3 player, FM radio, Bluetooth and expandable memory or up to 16GB.
The Tough 2 has been given a Telstra Blue Tick to indicate good mobile coverage in regional and rural areas.
Plans for the Tough 2 start from $10 per month on a $20 Telstra Mobile Member Plan for 24 months. Business customers can get the phone for $0 upfront on a Telstra Business Mobile Maximiser $49 plan over 24 months.
