Its predecessor, the Droid Incredible, was only available in the US making Incredible S the first of its family to be released in Australia.
It carries a 4-inch LCD touchscreen with 480 x 800 resolution.
A 1GHz processor is used in the phone. The 8-megapixel auto-focus LED flash camera is able to adjust to low light environments automatically and can record videos in 720p high-definition.
Weighing in at 135.5g, the Incredible S offers up to 10 hours talk time.
“All these things come together on the Incredible S in a beautiful, sleek, industrial design package and we think it is going to be very attractive to the Australian marketplace,” HTC country manager, Ben Hodgson, said.
While not a major upgrade from the Droid Incredible, the new handset is a more finely tuned machine.
“The phone has been on our radar for some time and the Incredible range has a good pedigree,” Optus consumer marketing director, Gavin Williams, said.
“We have extremely high hopes for this device.”
The Incredible S is available from May and pricing will be announced closer to date.
Exclusivity with Optus runs for three months.
