Victorian-based services provider, Southern Cross Computer Systems enhanced its business appointing Brett Liddle as its general manager of venue and stadium solutions.
Liddle will be in charge of starting up the new business unit focusing on public venue and stadium solutions.
He will be offering “CIO on demand” consulting and helping venues, stadiums and sporting organisations take advantage of the technology opportunities to enhance their businesses.
The emphasis will be around technology tailored to the venue rather than a generic IT offering, ensuring that venue hirers have confidence in the venue’s technical abilities when looking to place events.
Liddle previously worked for the Melbourne Cricket Club as the information systems manager, where he played a prime role in delivering projects including ISO27001 compliance, ticketing rights tender, IP security CCTV and access control systems, public internet hotspot, dedicated media internet connectivity solutions, building automation systems and risk mitigation. He also had a strong focus on business engagement ensuring IT and the business worked as a single unit.
Southern Cross managing director, Mark Kalmus said, it was a huge potential growth area for Southern Cross and the IT industry, especially with the convergence of communications and data as well as IP related security devices and business analytics.
“We envisage Brett’s experience and leadership will open many doors both in Australia and overseas," Southern Cross general manager of consulting, Ashutosh Kapsé, said. “This is a huge market waiting to be tapped. To give you an idea of the opportunity, Australia and New Zealand alone have well over 100 stadiums with a capacity of 10,000 spectators or more.”
