Symantec actions specialisation program

Partners had until April 1 to pick up specialisations and take part in the program

The specialisation program announced by security vendor, Symantec, last year has gone live.

Symantec released a raft of enhancements to its program last year, which primarily focuses on partner specialisation and accreditations. Partners had until April 1 to become specialised to take part in the program.

Symantec vice-president for SMB and channel Asia Pacific and Japan, David Dzienciol, said during the past 12 months it had seen a huge undertaking of investment and training by its partners in Australia.

“We felt that during the transition partners have taken our specialisations and strategy seriously,” Dzienciol said.

“They’ve looked at the specialisations and aligned it to their business and tried to understand what is available to them in terms of training tools and enablement program.”

So far, Dzienciol said not every partner has completed the specialisation process, but it is continuing to push the requirements.

“Across the region, we’ve been happy with the uptake and our key partners up and running. There are some that are close that need a few more accreditation's and they’ll be across the line,” he said.

“We’re committed to the partner-led approach, which is a key differentiator for us and a key component for partners is to understand how to benefit from specialisations.”

Partners with specialisations under their belt have preferential access to the rebate and incentive programs.

The Symantec Partner Support Centre for Marketing features a broad range of marketing tools and programs to help generate new business.

The Renewals Partner Portal provides the ability to view and manage all renewals sales opportunities, issue quotes, co-termination quotes, extracting business data and manage recurring business opportunities. It is running a number of training sessions with partners to help understand how to leverage the portal.

“We’ve got a number of existing programs and incentives that we’re rolling over, but we’ve tweaked and optimised them,” Dzienciol said.

Due to Symantec’s acquisition of PGP in April last year, it added an encryption specialisation to the fold.

“This strategy allows us to bring new technologies that we build or acquisitions, into the specialisation family, much more rapidly,” Dzienciol said.
