Melbourne consumers will now have access to daily deals thanks to shopping website, Stardeals, entering the market.
Stardeals launched in Sydney last month, and has already accrued a huge amount of interest, according to Stardeals managing director, Patrick Schmidt. The site is part of the Groupon network.
“They’ve been asking us to offer deals in Melbourne so we’ve been working very hard to do just that. It’s great that we can now satisfy Melbournians’ demands for the best deals from the best businesses the city has to offer,” Schmidt said.
Stardeals offered its first deal in Sydney on February 14. Since then it has saved Australians close to $1 million on the best things to do, eat and see, the company claims.
“We have built a strong following in Sydney in quite a short time,” he said. “Our popularity in Sydney has also leaked into other states with people from all major capital cities wanting to know when we will be in their city too.
"We’re working hard on our national rollout and expect to be in all major capitals in the first half of 2011.”
Using the principles of collective buying, Stardeals negotiates unprecedented discounts and subscribers get daily emails alerting them to the deals, which are activated only when a minimum number of people agree to buy.
