UXC business unit, Skilltech Consulting Services, has inked a $17 million contract with Southern Water to supply installation and meter replacement services in Tasmania.
This is a part of the Water Metering Project spanning across Southern Tasmania, which is set to commence in April and completed by June next year.
The installation services are provided on a schedule of rates basis with an estimated value of $17 million.
The project will see Skilltech installing water meters to Southern Water’s un-metered customers, in order to support the legislated introduction of time of use pricing for water.
According to a statement on the ASX, Skilltech, was chosen from a large number of tender applicants, and the appointment as head contractor, encompasses end-to-end project management along with installing the meters.
UXC managing director, Cris Nicolli, said the contract win provided a platform for growth in the future.
Southern Water executive manager of the Water Metering Project, Danny Sutton, said Skilltech was particularly chosen due to its expertise in installing automated meter reading technologies.
Skilltech employs more than 800 staff nationally and supplies metering services to more than 24 water, electricity and gas networks across the country.
The company also participates in the current Advanced Metering Infrastructure rollout projects across Victoria.
