Shein diminishes role at Dimension Data

David Shein is stepping down as executive chairman from the company he founded in 1987.

However, he is not walking away from Dimension Data (formerly Com Tech Communications), continuing his association with the company's voice-recognition portal subsidiary Holly, and its hosting and application service provider Dimension Data Central.

Shein will leave Dimension Data at the end of the month, making way for his brother Jon Shein, group managing director, to become executive chairman.

"As chairman I have not been involved in the day-to-day running of the business for nearly two years. Jon Shein has been the operational head of Dimension Data Australia and together with the management team has been at the helm of the company," David Shein said in a prepared statement.

"After 14 years with the company it is now time for me to step aside to give growth opportunities to the management team, many of whom have been with me since the company was formed. My departure will have no impact on the running of the business."

The Dimension Data Australia Group consists of training arm Dimension Data Learning Solutions, distributor Express Data, and systems integrator Dimension Data Integration.

Ross Cochrane, managing director of Express Data, and Steve Nola, managing director of Dimension Data Integration, have been appointed to Dimension Data Australia's board of directors.
