In a nutshell: The much-hyped IPad2 has been launched in San Francisco by Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, who made a surprise comeback from medical leave.
The new model of the iPad, a runaway success since its launch in April 2010, has most of the features expected by commentators going into the launch.
They include a new one-third slimmer design, an updated operating system (iiOs 4.3), much faster new dual core processor with unto nine times faster graphics, and built-in cameras front and back.
Local fans will only have to wait a few weeks to get their hands on one - release date in Australia is March 25.
The original iPad sold 3 million in 80 days and has proved a market dominating force since.
