Australia’s attraction to mobile devices has lead AirWatch to set up a local headquarters.
The vendor provides enterprise-grade mobile device management software, and works with Apple iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Symbian platforms.
The new headquarters will be based in Melbourne, and headed up by Rob Roe.
Prior to joining the vendor, Roe spent nine years with Telstra, and has an additional 13 years of experience with IBM, including previously holding the role of director of ERP Solutions, Asia-Pacific.
Roe will be responsible for overseeing the company’s in-country business development, professional services and marketing efforts.
“This region is an important market for mobile device management as IDC has seen strong smartphone growth from Apple and Android-based devices here,” IDC program vice-president, mobility and telecom analyst, Stephen Drake, said.
“In addition, this region is a viable play for enterprise mobility where organisations are receptive to a SaaS-based delivery model for key mobile deployments.”
AirWatch software has the ability to instantly configure certificates, policies, settings and access to enterprise accounts and protects personal and corporate data and the entire device through encryption and passcode policies.
The vendor’s Enterprise App Catalog allows console users to manage and deploy their internal apps as well as highlight recommended apps to specific users or groups of users. In addition to streamlining and automating mobile asset tracking and management, AirWatch can also set up alerts and automated business rules for specific device or network actions, user actions or system performance.
