Internet service provider, iiNet, experienced service outages for 50 per cent of its customers in NSW and some in Victoria, but said the problem was fixed by this morning.
According to iiNet spokesperson, Steve Dalby, the problems started after a router was upgraded overnight. Customers soon began experiencing service outages and other issues and the changes are being wound back.
“The problems affected web browsing but only for sites people hadn’t visited in a while,” he said. “(Web) addresses that were cached on our network were not a problem so people would’ve had intermittent issues.
“It was fixed around about 7:30am (Perth Time) which is shortly after it was starting to show issues,” he added. “It was about 50 per cent of our Sydney-based customers that suffered intermittent problems.”
Dalby said the problems were limited to users on the one router and that the rest of the network was unaffected.
