Epson Australia has released its Perfection 2450 Photo flatbed scanner, a device that links the product consumer and the professional graphics markets, according to the vendor. The Perfection 2450 Photo incorporates high-speed Application Specific Integrated Circuity (ASIC) that reduces data-processing and image-transmission times with USB 1.1 and 2.0 and FireWire support. The USB 2.0 interface allows speeds of up to 480Mbps.
Epson has also included a built-in transparency unit capable of scanning two strips of 35mm film simultaneously into individual image files. The scanner also incorporates MatrixCCD, MicroLens and Micro Step Drive technologies for resolution, light sensitivity and colour consistency. The scanner retails at approximately $999 and is available immediately.
