ASI ramps up storage capability with Isilon

The reseller gains Gold Fast Track Partner status and will specifically target mining, resources, education and production markets

IT reseller, ASI Solutions, has achieved Gold Fast Track Partner status with storage vendor, Isilon Systems.

ASI co-founder and director, Maree Lowe, said it had looked at Isilon products about three years ago and had been in discussion with EMC for about six months.

EMC acquired Isilon for $US2.25 billion in November.

“We were looking for an alternative in the market and we’re reasonably specific with the types of markets that we want to target at the moment,” Lowe said. “The biggest market for us will be the mining, resources and production houses, and potentially universities.”

“They’re markets that chew up huge amounts of storage.”

To gain the status, ASI had four staff certified. Lowe said some of the benefits of gaining the status include support and assistance with certifications.

“We’re interested in working with companies that have very clear strategies about direct and channel business because as a partner we make a large investment in acquiring product knowledge, certifications and often have to be the evangelist for their products,” Lowe said. “We also look for ongoing training and certification support. Storage sales are not achieved through your marketing strength - clients seeking high end storage solutions know their IT and business needs and therefore we are often involved in pilots or proof of concept projects,”

In the months ahead, Lowe said she was looking at getting involved in the video conferencing space.

“Unified communications is next the area where we’ll see some considerable growth,” she said.
