Despite recently losing distribution manager Oscar Bevz to Quantum ATL, StorageTek's aggressive reseller recruitment strategy continues. This week saw the addition of Boise Technology, which has been appointed in an effort to boost sales of its entry-level tape library products.
Boise Technology is the technology product distribution arm of Boise Cascade Office Products, a subsidiary of New York Stock Exchange-listed Boise Cascade Office Corporation, both of which are suppliers of office products, furniture and technology supplies.
Locally, Boise Technology supplies desktop, server and print solutions to government, large enterprises, the education vertical and the small business market.
"The lowering cost and availability of storage technology has seen it expand into the mid-market," said David Templeton, marketing manager for StorageTek Australia. "When we package our technology with software from the likes of Veritas, the customer ends up with an automated solution that means skill sets are no longer an issue for smaller customers."
Templeton said the storage vendor appoints direct value added resellers (or DiVARs) such as Boise where the partner addresses a specific vertical market or is large enough to not require the services of a distributor.
StorageTek has lined up Boise to address the telecommunications and education verticals, Trilogy Computer Systems to address the hospitality and entertainment verticals, and several other DiVARs for the medical and imaging industries. It has also appointed Powerlan, Alphawest 6 and enStor as national DiVAR partners.
