Chimei appoints new Australian distributor

The monitor vendor has appointed Queensland-based Metromatics as its new distributor.

Taiwanese LCD manufacturer, Chimei, has appointed Queensland-based Metromatics, as its new distributor for the Australian market.

The product range includes Chimei LED monitors such as the S and V series models and the monitor sizes range from 17-inch to 23.6-inch.

In March, it will also have access to the vendor’s LCD TVs in a range of models including 3D colour gamut to the streamlined design.

Features of the LCD TV include Full HD 1080 and surround sound TruSurround XT. The models come in various sizes from 22 – to 55-inch.

Chimei products were initially distributed in the Australian market by Impact Systems. Protac was also a distributor, but in June last year, it disappeared from the distribution game. At the time, its managing director, Gary Jeng, categorically denied it was going out of business, even though it put its warehouse up for sale.

Since then, Sydney-based Ado Electronic Industrial was handling warranties for Chimei LCDs for customers in the Australian market.

Some of the former Chimei executives are facing price fixing charges. Former sales director, Chen-Lung Kuo, is facing gaol time for his involvement in the conspiracy.
