Computer vendor, Acer, has unveiled it will introduce a new channel program next year aimed at simplifying processes and rewards for partners.
The Acer Advantage program will affect the vendor’s entire channel base, from resellers right through to distributors.
“We have done a fairly major assessment internally of all our programs,” Newly appointed Acer channel manager, Amir Sinanovic, said. “Advantage will be a simpler and much fairer system in terms of rewards for partners.”
Acer is still conducting a full review of all its channel partners to determine where it is going to position with them next year. The company is focused on growing its presence in the SMB space.
While Acer could not rule out whether any partners will be dropped, Acer marketing manager, Robin Tang, expects its channel line-up to remain fairly stable.
“One of our major considerations is market coverage,” Tang said. “It is not so much about which partners we like but we want to minimise overlapping in the market and so far we have a very good coverage.”
Acer plans to reveal more details on its Advantage program next year.
Major product refreshes and new products are also on the cards for the vendor in 2011 as part of its push in the SMB market.
“We want to expand on the total solutions front,” Sinanovic said. “Acer will be coming to the market with a compelling range of server platforms, desktops and notebooks as well as new products like tablets and smartphones.”
