Telstra confirms interest in US defence contract

In what would be the first time a foreign carrier has bid for a US Department of Defense contract, Telstra could be set to tender for a project worth $2 billion ($US1.2 billion) over 10 years.

The US Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) was expected to issue a request for proposal on August 21 for provision of a Pacific Rim network to carry the worldwide command and control traffic of the US Department of Defense.
