The decision by Acer Communications and Multimedia to change its name to Benq has been warmly received by the vendor's distribution channels, according to a press statement.
Paul Kristoris, managing director of distributor Leader Systems had "no doubt" Benq will quickly become a recognised brand and the company is working with it to minimise the impact of the brand transition.
"Benq will quickly become a recognised brand in the Australian market," he said. "The company remains committed to the channel."
Over at BBF, another Benq distributor, managing director Michael Muscat said "Benq is not just another new brand in the market" and he "looks forward" to helping make it a success in Australia.
"It has emerged from strength in its origins," Muscat said, adding a 10-year heritage, high degree of intellectual property and "truly investing in its future by way of R & D" will influence how it performs.
Danny Ma, managing director of DMA, which will also be wholesaling the new brand, was "excited by the launch". He said "Benq is a much more marketable brand" than Acer CM which should allow him to "broaden market and sales opportunities".
