MSY retains lawyers to contest ACCC action

Same firm previously hired to prepare MSY’s warranty and sales policy

Major tech retailer/reseller, MSY Technology, has retained Queensland law firm, Spranklin McCartney Lawyers, to defend it against Federal Court action by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

The move comes after the ACCC accused MSY of engaging in false or misleading warranty representations and breaching sections 52 and 53(g) of the Trade Practices Act 1974.

Spranklin McCartney Lawyers is the same legal firm that was previously hired by MSY Technology to prepare its Warranty & Sales Policy.

But while the Federal Court is expecting an interlocutory hearing in Sydney on November 16, neither party is willing to confirm or deny if settlement discussions will be attempted before that date.
