HP has teamed up with search engine and news website, Yahoo!7, to supply a content printing application.
It can be used on HP Officejet printers and users can access news articles and print them out directly without going through a PC. Users also have access to a daily news digest and Yahoo!7’s calendar tool for printing as well. The content is also customisable.
“We know this is important because 20 per cent of our content is still being printed out,” Yahoo!7 head of news and information, Dan Stinton, said at the HP Innovation Summit in Singapore. “This might be a digital age but there are still an awful lot of people still printing things out such as news or emails. This gives them an easy option to do so.”
Yahoo!7 is a joint venture between Yahoo! and the Seven Network. There are 200 million users in Asia-Pacific, according to Stinton. HP also announced an app for Canada-based business document provider, BizTree.
Google Docs already has an app with HP to print documents from the cloud directly from compatible HP printers.
