SD audio device does away with PC

The PC has always been the central hub of digital entertainment, but Panasonic has taken the focus away from the desktop with the latest edition to its e.wear range, the SV-SR100. The device is an SD audio recorder that can record high-quality music direct to an SD memory card without the need for a PC interface. It supports AAC, MP3 and WMA formats as well as CD-R, CD-RQ and commercially produced CDs. It can even record from audio cassettes, thanks to an analog input. The SV-SR100 also features a terminal for connecting an optional stereo microphone and a keypad so users can enter song titles and artist names. The device stores the tracks on an SD memory card, which is available in 8MB, 16MB, 32MB, 64MB and 128MB capacities. Panasonic has also announced it will launch a 512MB card next month. The SV-SR100 is available this month and will retail for $1,299.www.panasonic.com.au
