Winsoft will localise, distribute Serif software

Winsoft International, arguably best know for localising Adobe software into Arabic, Hebrew and other languages, has announced that they will be working together with UK-based Serif to bring Serif’s software titles to the Middle East and other markets.

Serif’s software titles for Microsoft Windows includes PagePlus, WebPlus, PhotoPlus, DrawPlus, MoviePlus, PagePlus Essentials, WebPlus Essentials, PhotoPlus Essentials and Digital Scrapbook Artist 2.

Serif’s stated aim is “to develop better value alternatives to high-end design and publishing packages.”

For example, on Amazon.com, Serif’s PhotoPlus X4 sells for $80 while Adobe Photoshop CS5 goes for $660. A Student and Teacher edition of Photoshop CS5 is available for about $190 and an upgrade version cost about as much.

All of Serif’s software is already available in English, French and German. Under the partnership with Winsoft, PagePlus, WebPlus and PhotoPlus will be made available in Arabic, Hebrew, Spanish, Italian, Czech, Polish, Russian, Swedish and Dutch with the other applications to follow.

Winsoft will in an initial stage help Serif distribute English-language versions of their software to new markets, including Continental Europe, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The additional languages, localised by Winsoft, will arrive over the next few months and next year.
