In September, the South African Competition Tribunal, unconditionally approved the offer.
Dimension Data local chief, Steve Nola, has previously said it will be business as usual for the integrator and its two subsidiaries, Express Data and Dimension Data Learning Solutions, once the acquisition comes into play.
“Looking at NTT’s business, which is very large, a lot of their revenues were very much based in Japan. They see DiData as providing that ICT footprint outside of Japan,” Nola said.
There would be very little integration between the two companies, because it would be run as a separate business unit, he said.
“We’ll still maintain our brand and the level of independence that we have today,” he said. “It’s not about the synergies between the two companies, it’s very complementary.
"There will be some work in terms of understanding their technology, services and products they already have and how we could leverage that in regions where DiData is very strong and likewise, on how they can take some of our services and offerings that we have and how they can leverage in the markets they’re incredibly strong in.”
Nola said its business strategy would remain the same as it looks to ramp up its investment in managed services, outsourcing and the cloud.
“We’ll continue to do that and we’ll grow our infrastructure-as-a-Service business, because we see that as being very important moving forward,” he said. “We’ll continue to make more poignant investments and really build on our portfolio of offerings and in some cases, really expanding our scale.”
“We see the whole cloud-based offering, as being an important area of investment and we’ll build on that.”
Nola said the acquisition would help propel its push into the datacentre space.
“Their expertise in the datacentre is tremendous and from our perspective that only accelerate on what we do,” he said.
