RSA Security Delivers Strong Authentication Appliance for Enterprise Customers Through Channel Partners Worldwide

 • 26 April, 2006 15:54

RSA Security Inc. (Nasdaq: RSAS), the expert in protecting online identities and digital assets, today announced the worldwide availability of RSA SecurID Appliance 2.0, a scalable and easy-to-deploy stronger authentication solution that enables enterprise customers to establish the trusted identity of users accessing critical business resources. RSA Security is one of the first vendors to offer an authentication appliance designed to support such a large number of users, and is launching the solution worldwide in response to customer demand, placing its RSA SecurWorld Channel Partners in an ideal position to take advantage of the potential market opportunity.

The solution scales to 50,000 users, and is pre-loaded with RSA Authentication Manager 6.1, the enterprise software that powers RSA SecurID two-factor authentication. RSA SecurID Appliance 2.0 meets the demands of enterprise customers seeking an appliance-based solution; and follows the 2005 launch of the RSA SecurID Appliance for small and medium-size businesses. RSA SecurID Appliance 2.0 is available immediately.

Sales and technical accreditation for RSA SecurWorld Channel Partners will be available. Also, as part of the Company’s objective to drive more new business and increase upsell opportunities through its channel partners, RSA Security will be offering additional marketing support and incentives through initiatives such as its deal registration program, to help partners deliver RSA SecurID Appliance 2.0 to the enterprise market.

The new appliance can be deployed in as few as 15 minutes, enabling the easy rollout of two-factor authentication within varying environments. Partners can implement up to 10 replicas, ensuring business continuity for users accessing protected systems and applications. In addition, partners selling to enterprises with existing RSA Authentication Manager infrastructure can use the appliance to cost-effectively scale their deployment.

RSA SecurID Appliance 2.0 Features and Benefits

The new RSA SecurID Appliance provides stronger security for remote access servers, IP/Sec and SSL VPNs, wireless access points, terminal services, Microsoft® Windows® desktops and networks, and over 300 third party solutions (e.g., routers, servers, Web portals) certified through the RSA Secured Partner Program. RSA SecurID two-factor authentication technology can also serve as the authentication point for RSA® Sign-On Manager enterprise single sign-on software, RSA ClearTrust access management software, RSA® Federated Identity Manager solution and RSA Key Manager software. Additional features and benefits include:

• Intuitive user interface: RSA SecurID Appliance delivers a Web-based interface that is easy for IT administrators to learn and use.
• Authenticator flexibility: Customers deploying the RSA SecurID Appliance may select between the RSA SecurID SID800 USB-enabled authenticator and the traditional RSA SecurID SID700 hardware token.
• Hardened operating system: The appliance is built on a hardened Microsoft Windows Server 2003 operating system, providing embedded firewall protection, disabled non-essential components, and limited group/user sharing options.
• RSA Authentication Manager 6.1 software: RSA SecurID Appliance 2.0 comes pre-loaded with RSA Authentication Manager 6.1, which delivers 802.1X-based security for organisations with both wired and wireless environments, and includes RSA SecurID for Microsoft Windows 2.0, enabling customers to strongly protect Microsoft Windows desktops and networks.

Appliance Conversion Program

In addition, partners will be able to offer a conversion program to current software-based RSA SecurID solution customers. The program, which will be available to both enterprise and SMB customers through RSA Security’s channel partners, will offer fixed-price appliance hardware and a new RSA Authentication Manager software license. RSA Security also provides detailed procedures for migrating data from RSA Authentication Manager software to RSA SecurID Appliance.

“RSA Security is committed to enabling its partners to deliver a broad range of options for establishing the trusted identity of users accessing vital data, applications and technology infrastructure,” said Steve Terry, Managing Director – ANZ of RSA Security. “RSA SecurID Appliance 2.0 solution provides channel partners with an opportunity to address increasing demand for stronger security and ease of use amongst their customers, while ensuring the ability to scale for future needs.”

Pricing and Availability

The Appliance is available from RSA Security authorised distributors throughout Australia and New Zealand. Pricing is available on request.

RSA SecurID Appliance 2.0 is currently available worldwide. More information can be found at http://www.rsasecurity.com/products/securid/appliance/.

Solutions Partner Instant Rebate

The RSA SecurID Appliance 2.0 will be covered by the Solutions Partner Instant Rebate that will begin on May 14, 2006, for RSA SecurWorld Solution Partners. After a Solutions Partner has negotiated its purchase price with an Authorised RSA Distributor, the products have been acquired and the order placed, the Distributor will calculate a fixed, instant rebate equal to 5 percent of the RSA Security standard price list for those products being purchased.

The Solutions Partner Instant Rebate will only apply to a Partner’s authorized product lines (those RSA products for which a Solutions Partner has completed Sales Authorization and Technical Certification). This fixed-amount rebate will be applied as a credit to the Solutions Partner’s purchase order and will be automatically deducted from the Distributor’s invoice to the Partner.

“The 5 percent Solutions Partner Instant Rebate is an enhancement to the RSA SecurWorld partner program that recognises the commitment made by those RSA SecurWorld partners who have achieved accreditation by providing them with an additional discount,” said Gavin Jarvis, General Manager, Channels – Australia and New Zealand, RSA Security.
