Avaya Korea looks to Oz

Avaya Korea managing director Soo Hyun Lee has an invitation to Australian voice and data integrators looking to crack the Korean market - give him a call.

"We want to co-operate with Australian partners who want to expand their business into Korea," he told ARN on the eve of the World Cup Final Draw in Busan.

"Australians are quite advanced in technology and business. There are a lot of talented people in the industry and we are keen to talk about possible alliances with leading companies."

As an official partner of the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea and Japan, Avaya is responsible for the implementation of FIFA's converged telephony, video and data infrastructure. Soo Hyun Lee hopes the communications network will help boost the company to the top spot across all areas of its business in the country. "We are different to other FIFA partners, who tend to be consumer focused," he said. "Avaya is about the enterprise and this is our first chance to participate in the World Cup as a significant partner."

In Korea, Avaya has partnered with Samdoo for the design, implementation and technical support of its data products, while the applications have been handled by system integrator Ssany-Yong. But the company is also keen to partner with Australian companies from an applications and services perspective, according to Lee.
