More than 420 industry delegates participated in the 10-year anniversary of the Starlight Foundation's IT Fund for Kids.
The 'Know IT All' dinner was held at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney and it aims to help raise funds for seriously ill and hospitalised children. A number of goods were up for auction on night including trips to Bali and Fiji, a signed AC/DC guitar and an executive suite package for 20 guests to U2's concert in Australia later this year. The auction items helped bring in more than $200,000.
IT Fund for Kids ambassador and managing director of Intel Australia, Phil Cronin, said between the Sydney and Melbourne 'Know IT All' events, more than $300,000 was raised. The Fund has raised more than $3 million during the last 10 years for the Starlight Foundation.
"We are excited and grateful to beat the set target, but it took 10 years and the goal is to bring the next $3 million within three years," Cronin said. "Look around the room it's the best and brightest of the IT industry. I hope that this becomes the night of nights."
For the second year in a row, the Google team took the 'Know IT All' trophy home after an intense evening of multiple choice questions supplied by Mensa Australia.
