Distribution Central is expanding into Singapore.
The distributor wanted to set up shop in the country a few months ago but is currently hiring a suitable sales director to run the operation in Asia.
The interviewing process is already underway but the company has yet to settle on a suitable candidate.
“The IT skills shortage is just as bad up there as it is here,” Distribution Central CEO, Scott Frew said.
Distribution Central has experienced more deployments to Asia and opening operations in Singapore seemed a logical choice to set up a logistics hub, he said.
“We will be going after every manufacturer we currently distribute in Australia and New Zealand,” Frew said. “It is more a service for our existing vendor base.”
But he welcomes any new vendors that are interested in partnering with Distribution Central in Asia.
The company wants to open an office in Orchard Road, a popular retail and tourist destination of Singapore.
It is looking to hire four staff but the number of employees will rest on the recommendation of the yet-to-be appointed Asia sales director.
Distribution Central runs a number of distribution business units including Firewall Systems, Network Systems and San Systems.
