ACCPAC has re-released an Australianised version of its Simply accounting suite to aid its pursuit of customers all the way down to the two-person operations. The vendor is giving away one million free copies of the single-user version (normally $399 at retail) in a worldwide campaign to entice consumers away from their existing packages. Simply aims to take the complexity out of accounting. As well as an easy-to-use interface, it provides multimedia-based training via an interactive guide. It includes five integrated modules (general ledger, purchases and payments, sales and invoicing, project costing and inventory, and services) and more than 100 pre-packaged reports. It supports Microsoft Office XP Smart Tags and includes Crystal Reports for customised reporting. In addition to straightforward sales, ACCPAC claims the strength and ability of the product provides resellers with a core around which to create a host of saleable accounting services. Simply is also available in a multi-user Pro version, which is in the process of being made networkable. All the products integrate and use code to label data so that other non-ACCPAC applications can get into the database (MS Access) to access information.
