A new name is not the only thing that has changed at Business Intelligence (BI) vendor Brio Technology. The company has also appointed a channels manager and is looking to partner its way to more customers.
Now known as Brio Software, the BI developer has appointed former CorVu channel VP Stephen Dolan as national channels manager in a bid to develop strategic relationships with distributors and resellers.
The move is the forerunner to the release of a technology suite, Brio Performance Applications, which effectively is an attempt "productise" the intellectual property Brio has developed for specific vertical markets and horizontal applications like ERP and CRM, according to Dolan. The first of these applications will be Brio Performance Builder, which is due out next year.
The suite is designed to enable Brio's partners to provide more value to the customer, including ease of use and time to market. To facilitate this, Brio has launched a range of packaged deployment methodologies and services, called Brio Fast Track, that resellers can use to provide customers with set deliverables, such as 10-day installation, at a set price.
In Australia, Brio currently derives around 20 per cent of its revenues from its channel. Dolan hopes to double this to 40 per cent over the next 12 months.
Brio has undergone significant changes since January with the appointment of Craig Brennan as the new CEO. He was joined by a number of executives with enterprise software backgrounds. Former Oracle VP Todd Davis, executive vice president of worldwide operations, claims the new look management team has changed the corporate culture of the company from its entrepreneurial roots to a large, professional organisation.
In addition, Brio has pledged to partner with development companies that can extend the functionality of its own BI software. One such partner is Australian performance metrics tools builder QIQ Solutions. The partnership will see Brio take QIQ's Executive Suite, a dashboard-like analytical and progress metric builder, to other regions in the world.
