HP has appointed Kevin Rooney as its Enterprise Storage, Servers and Networking (ESSN) director in the South Pacific region.
He takes over from Paul Robson, who was promoted earlier this year to lead HP’s networking efforts across Asia-Pacific and Japan.
Rooney was recently the director of ESSN national partners in the US. He will be based in Sydney and will be responsible for driving growth across the ESSN portfolio.
“We need to empower and enable our partners to hit our massive growth targets,” Rooney said. “We need to make sure that we clearly convey our messaging around the converged infrastructure. It’s important that customers understand the value proposition that we bring to the market with the power of our portfolio.”
Rooney said the company planned to be very aggressive in the networking market.
“We have a tremendous offering now with the acquisition of 3Com, we feel the market is ready for an alternative,” he said.
Rooney will report to vice-president and managing director of South Pacific, Paul Brandling.
The vendor also recently hired Darren Read to head up its networking practice in A/NZ.
